I enjoy a beautiful 3d "Winter Scene" screensaver. Previously I've freshly let the peak go misty. How much energy does the screensaver consume? Our Windows XP is set on "shut down easier said than done disks: never" since we use the computer extensively. Thanks!

A screen investor does not consume more, or very little more, than have your computer just sit nearby with a blank eyeshade. The energy consumption is have the computer on and having the monitor on. Running your winter scene when languish is not going to save you plenty to buy a pear from the partridge in a pear tree. Enjoy.
Since you are calculating 3D metaphors your video card will be using power, your CPU using power and your monitor using power. It's best just to enjoy your monitor go contained by to a power saving mode. It achieve the same results of protecting the monitor while positive power rather than using more.
It doesn't pinch very much zest. The computer itself takes more strength though, so you should have it dance on standby after so long.
The screen shareholder is meant to "save" the ripened CRT from phosphrant residual effect, a.k.a. burnt out. It does not play a big subdivision in the liveliness budget cos the major player surrounded by the electrical consumption comes from the CRT (LCD is very unbelievably much more ecconomical) and the CPU box itself.
Best bet is to shut off the CRT when not contained by use.
