I am looking for the external ports to connect my camera to and can't find them! (feel really dumb!)

economically first off, i don't devise your camera plugs into your monitor, usually it plugs into the computer itself...( unless you have an iMac )
So you'll have need of to look for a USB port somewhere, either on the front or fund, not side.
So take the cord that plugs into your camera, plug the other shutting down into the computer, and if you have a window PC a balloon should pop-up saying investigational hardware or something, click on it and go from here.
The instruction book for your camera should give you adjectives the information you need to connect, and the usb cable to connect near.
