Desktop monitor to a laptop?

My laptop monitor is broke, and can anyone describe me how to connet a desktop monitor to it, because when I do it it gives me a black blind that says G R B monitor selg question paper etc....

Answer:

Instead of guessing, if you go to the trellis site of the manufacture, you should find a users booklet that will tell you exactly what to do to use the external monitor.
There is predictable a function button on your laptop keyboard which switches between video signal connections. The booklet should specify what that it is. Could be the signal is only going to the laptop peak currently, which is the default. You did not specify model or brand of laptop, so I have nothing to lookup online. :)
Hit Fn F5. that sends the video signal out the external VGA output
JoeD is correct, at hand is a key on your laptop that looks similar to 2 virtical lines on either side of a square |[]| usually one of your F# key. u will have to press the FN knob and that key at like peas in a pod time. good luck.
