Dell Monitor won't work on brand new PC?

Hi

My mum have a bought a new PC and monitor, from seperate suppliers. However she cannot bring teh Dell monitor to work vis the VGA cable or the other one - does anyone know why this would be the case and what we can do to bring her back playing her games.

Her older monitor does also not work on the new PC, but how is she supposed to adjust settings (if thats whats required) if she can't see what she's doing?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Answer:

If there are 2 VGA ports to plug the monitor into, try the other one.
I really don't suppose it's the brand of monitor, I would suspect the graphics or video card it plugs into is bad. The solely cheap way to inform is to find a friend who will let you plug the Dell monitor into their computer, if it works, fine. Then lift their monitor that works, and plug it into the new computer. If you don't catch a picture, I would suspect the graphics card is shot. Best of luck.

The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most common computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as dignified as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply changing the settings. Detailed instructions available at http://fixit.in/monitor.html
