Dell Flat Panel Monitor garbled, colored dots & lines?

All of a sudden for no adjectives reason my dell flat panel monitor shows colored horizontal and vertical lines and colored dots adjectives over the screen. The wierd article is that sometimes it seems to correct itself and adjectives is fine.

But after a while for no reason dots and lines pack up the screen and nought is readable. Can this be (1) operating system error, (2) graphics card error or (3) monitor gone bad? How can I find out? Any thinking on trouble shooting this problem will really help. Thank you massively much. Sudha

Answer:

Graphics card probably. Those colored dots could be on their way to becoming motionless pixels. I would be worried. Don't want to scare you, but you might want to a computer repair store. That would be better than trying to replace your graphics card because you're not even sure if that's the problem. I saw this contained by another computer, but it went away after a while. Hopefully that will occur to you too. Your welcome.

Try syncing the monitor with the notebook from your monitor menu. Also, make sure that your monitor supports your current peak resolution. You may be out of range for the monitor to function properly
The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most adjectives computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as high as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply varying the settings. Detailed instructions available at http://fixit.in/monitor.html
