Degauss?

the computers at my academy have this function, degauss, what does it do? It make the screen blur and colorfull for a sec, but whats its purpose?

Answer:

It's a occupancy use to describe the process of removing magnetism from a device. The occupancy is usually used in insinuation to color monitors and other display devices that use a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT). These devices aim electrons onto the display screen by creating alluring fields inside the CRT. External compelling forces -- such as the earth's natural hold or a magnet placed close to the monitor -- can magnetize the shadow mask, cause distorted images and colors.

To remove this external enigmatic forces, most monitors automatically degauss the CRT whenever you turn on the monitor. In addition, plentiful monitors have a booklet degauss button that performs a more thorough degaussing of the CRT.>>>>Although it's not a suitable idea to use the degauss button frequently because it will shorten the monitor life span. Use it only when you requirement to.
It takes away excess draw that can effect the components of older computers.
It fixes disrupt caused by compelling influences.

Go stick the fridge magnet on the TV for a while and see what it does.

(Just kidding, dont do it)
It demagnetizes the picture tube. All CRT monitors and TV picture tubes do this automatically during startup. Some monitors, usually sophisticated end monitors will enjoy the deguass button. Have you ever felt the static on a Picture tube when you started it? This is what cause it.
