Dell laptop display problem?

All of a sudden my 8600's display go black but only after the system boots. If the display be dead, it wouldn't show the DELL and Windows startup page so I think it must be a setting but I can't numeral it out - HELP! I have run a virus scan. Am currently using a TV for my monitor - NOT ACCEPTABLE

Answer:

A couple of question: Can you access setup in the BIOS? Can you obtain into safemode? Have you made any changes to the video resolution lately? Please permit me know.

Follow up: Can you get into safemode? if so transformation the settings to the dafault and see if that helps.
I would try hooking up an external monitor to determine if this is a problem beside the LCD display. I've experienced this when the inverter is bad. Are you competent to see any image at adjectives, is it really dim or black..look closely.

Usually when it's extremly dim, the inveter is out. If it's black with no display at adjectives...the backlight could be out.

Try the external monitor. If it proves to be the monitor and the laptop is no longer under warranty...I'd be in motion to http://www.screentekinc.com . The laptop maker will charge you WAY too much.

Good Luck.
The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most adjectives computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as high as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply shifting the settings. Detailed instructions available at http://fixit.in/monitor.html
